Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

On behalf of the Secretariat, it is my privilege to welcome you to the third edition of the SRH Berlin Model United Nations (SRHMUN III). We are honoured to host you at SRH Campus Berlin in May 2027, for what will be the largest and most ambitious edition of our conference to date.

SRHMUN has grown through the seriousness of those who have shaped it: delegates who met difficult questions with rigour, chairs who guided debate with fairness, and a team of students who asked more of each edition than the last. SRHMUN III builds on that foundation with four committees: the General Assembly (DISEC), the Security Council, UN Women and a Crisis Committee. Together they offer delegates the full range of multilateral work, from building consensus among many states to deciding under the pressure of an unfolding emergency.

Berlin is the right city for such a conference. Few places have known so directly both the cost of division and the labour of reconciliation. The Brandenburg Gate, once set within the border zone of a divided city, now stands as a symbol of unity and a reminder that lasting settlements are reached through dialogue, however slow. We hope the setting will inform the way you debate: with respect for those who disagree with you, and with a sense of responsibility for outcomes that carry weight outside the committee room.

Model United Nations asks a great deal of its participants. You will research thoroughly, represent positions that may not be your own, and negotiate with colleagues who see the world differently. In return, it develops skills that last well beyond a single weekend: precise and persuasive communication, intellectual flexibility, and the patience to build agreement where none at first seems possible.

To our first-time delegates: preparation matters more than prior experience, and our chairs and staff will support you. To returning delegates and our faculty advisors, thank you for your continued trust and guidance. To the Highboard and the Secretariat, I am deeply grateful for the discipline and care you have brought to this edition.
